Spain "energetically condemns" the seizure of its nationals but stops short of the sanctions that any other state would face for such a crime. Australia’s government remains largely silent while six of its citizens—including climate activist Zack Schofield and student Ethan Floyd—are hauled off to desert cells.
By allowing Israel to treat the Mediterranean as a private, lawless lake, the international community has effectively repealed the freedom of navigation for everyone. If a state can board a ship 1,000 kilometers from its shore, kidnap parliamentarians, and sabotage aid vessels without facing a single consequence, then international law is dead. The blood on the decks and the activists in the desert are not just an indictment of the pirate state; they are the final proof that the world has chosen to sacrifice its own principles at the altar of geopolitical convenience.
