Update on my Iran Trip
I'm getting excited!
Dear Friends,
As you may know, I have been invited to travel to Iran and we’re busy putting the trip together! I’ll now be meeting with a University in Ifsahan as well and I’m so excited to meet the Iranian people, learn about their beautiful country and culture and share it with all of you!
As an American writer currently living here in the Middle East, watching the drumbeats of geopolitical conflict dominate Western headlines, the gravity of this opportunity is hard to overstate. This isn't just a trip; it is an independent, boots-on-the-ground investigative mission. I am going to document what life in Iran is actually like, piercing through the rhetoric to find the human stories underneath.
The catalyst for this invitation came from a fascinating, unexpected place.
A professor from a university division in Iran reached out to me after coming across my newly released book, Understanding Islam: An Agnostic Atheist Living in the Middle East Shares His Perspective.
They were captivated by the core paradox of my work: an outsider and an agnostic atheist, living within the region, systematically dismantling the manufactured Islamophobia and structural biases that Western corporate media has relied on for decades. They want me to come to Tehran to discuss it.
This book was written to build bridges and shatter illusions. Now, it has literally opened a border.
The Mission (And How You Come In)
The trip itself is partially sponsored, but independent storytelling is never entirely free. To navigate the intense logistical hurdles of secure visas, passport clearances, and required official guiding units, I need to raise funds immediately to make this happen.
If you can support my trip and get a copy of the new book that would be amazing!
If you have ever valued independent research, if you believe in challenging global power structures, or if you simply want to see what happens when an American writer brings a camera and an open mind into Iran, I am asking for your backing today.
How to join the journey:
If you haven't read it yet: Pick up a copy of Understanding Islam today. It is a direct, accessible challenge to the status quo narratives we've been handed.
If you want to sponsor the journalism: If you already own the book but want to fund the dispatches, photography, and analysis you can make a direct contribution at my website.
The paperwork is moving, the visas are in process, and the destination is ahead. Let’s prove that independent, bridge-building storytelling can still triumph over the narratives designed to keep us apart.
With gratitude,
Quinn O'Flynn
Soon to be reporting from Iran.
