You Don't Have to Be Muslim to Appreciate Islam
Breaking down Islamaphobia, one book at a time...
One of the things that I have had to do as an American living in the Middle East is to is face the sheer amount of brainwashing and propaganda that has inundated us for decades in the west. We’ve been told that Muslims are dirty, they’re evil, they’re terrorists, they’re perverts, they hate us and want to kill us, we can’t trust them, their backwards fanatical religion isn’t compatible, etc. As usual, it’s all a pack of lives and most non Muslims in the West don’t have the faintest idea of what Islam actually teacher, nor how beautiful and peaceful it is.
I’ve just launched my latest book, not in an effort to convert anyone to Islam, but to simply share what I have learned and experienced as an Agnostic Atheist living in the Middle East. The goal of this book is to serve as a starting point, to open hearts and minds and to educate people on the basic tenants, beliefs and practices of Muslims. Peppered along the way are personal stories and thoughts that I’ve learned while living here.
Again, I’m not asking you to convert, although frankly, many readers probably will… that’s up to them. What I am asking you to do is simply open the book with a curious heart and learn. What you do with this knowledge is up to you.
I’ve covered 13 different major topics in this book and you’ll learn some history, all about the 5 pillars of Islam and what they mean, the different branches of Islam and how they all weave together into the Ummmah. We’ll learn about the difference between the Quran, the Sunnah, Hadith, the Holy Days and practices and more. By the time you’re done you’ll be better educated on Islam than 90% of the non-Muslims and quite possibly on par with some who have practiced all their lives.
